About ASP
Durable session history for AI agents
Agent Session Protocol (ASP) is an open specification for persisting, replaying, and migrating complete AI agent sessions. It defines canonical events, content blocks, identity, fidelity, and opaque-payload preservation; it does not replace live control or tool protocols.
Protocol boundaries
ACP handles live editor-agent interaction, MCP exposes tools and context, A2A coordinates agent-to-agent tasks, and OpenTelemetry describes observability telemetry. ASP focuses on the durable session record that must survive after a run ends and move across runtimes.
Governance and implementation
The specification and reference implementation are developed openly on GitHub. USL is the storage-first reference implementation; protocol and implementation maturity are documented separately so experimental capabilities are not presented as stable guarantees.
